Mr. Barbier is Managing Partner of TechFund Europe. Prior to the creation of TechFund Europe in 2000, Mr. Barbier was President and CEO of Thomson-CSF Ventures (now Thales Corporate Ventures), the venture capital arm of French electronics and defense giant Thales. He founded this fund in 1986, pioneering venture capital in France and Europe, and investing in more than 50 successful start-ups in the US, Europe and Asia. Among them: Verity (Nasdaq:VRTY), Anadigics ( Nasdaq:ANAD), Vitesse ( Nasdaq:VTSS), Isocor ( Nasdaq:ICOR), InfoRéalité (IFRP.PA), Simulog (France), Esterel Technologies (France), ERA (Czech Republic), Optocom Technology (PRC). Previously, Mr. Barbier was Executive Vice President, at TITN Alcatel a software engineering company, founder and Managing Director of Planetel, a flat display technology company, and head of the Minitel business at TELIC Alcatel. In addition, he has worked for six years in several positions at the corporate level at France Telecom and six years at the Centre National d’Etudes des Télécommunications (now France Telecom R&D) He has a broad technology and management background, and he brings more than 20 years of international venture capital experience.

Mr. Barbier is a Member of the Executive Committee of RIAM. He currently serves or has served on the Boards of 6WIND, SmartJog (acquired by TDF), Novaled, Seemage (acquired by Dassault Systèmes), Citilog, RSI Video Technologies, Solaire Direct and Thales Corporate Ventures.

He also served on the Boards of numerous European, American and Chinese high-tech companies.

Mr Barbier is a graduate of the University of Paris and Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications (Paris).
